What Is Earth Day?

According to Wikipedia, Earth Day is a day early each year on which events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth‘s natural environment. Earth Day is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network,and is celebrated in more than 175 countries every year.  In 2009, the United Nations designated April 22 International Mother Earth Day. Earth Day 2012 is planned for April 22 in all years at least through 2015.

 

Why is Earth Day 2012 So Important?

Today, we hear about typhoons, tsunamics, mutuation of deadlier viruses almost daily.  If it wasn’t an earthquake in Japan, it might be a tsunami in Asia or a Typhoon in USA.  Is our planet telling us something?

In layman’s terms, Earth Day 2012 (and every Earth Day, every year) is important because it is a day for us to think about important issues like how we can keep our planet and environment healthy

 

What’s Happening On Earth Day 2012

On April 22, Earth Day 2012,  more than 1 billion people around the globe will participate in Earth Day 2012 and do their part to Mobilize the Earth.  People from all walks of life and all nationalities will voice their appreciation for the planet and demand its protection. Together everyone will stand united for a sustainable future and call upon individuals, organizations, and governments to do their part.

Attend a local Earth Day event and join a Earth Day 2012 campaigns as we collect A Billion Acts of Green® and elevate the importance of environmental issues around the world.  Together we will Mobilize the Earth™ on April 22 and raise the importance of more action.
