The Elephant Bondage

The Elephant Bondage

This story is re-interpreted by The Living Guru

Once upon a time, The Living Guru was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped by a fascinating sight be beheld.

The Living Guru was confused by the fact that the elephants, such huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg.    There were no chains nor  no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some unexplainable  reason, they did not.  That was how the elephants had been living their lives.

The Living Guru, who has lived lived fully saw an elephant trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “This is an interesting question,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them and not let them get free.  As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away.  They believe  the rope can still hold them and are used to being in bondage, so they never try to break free.  That is the way the elephants live their lives,

The Living Guru was stunned by the revelation.   These animals could, and had tremendous power to,  at any time,  break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.  He compared that situation to how humans live their lives…..

The Living Guru lives life fullyFood For Thought by The Living Guru :

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

Or are we bonded to something out of habit although we have the power to loosen ourselves anytime?

Is our bondage a mental one?

Most importantly, are we living a inspired life fully?
